Las alumnas de la Bauhaus
artes, oficios y revolución: las mujeres que marcaron la diferencia
Vadillo, Marisa
The students of the Bauhaus. Arts, Crafts and Revolution: The Women Who Made a Difference is an interesting study focused on all the workshops and the complete reality of the most exciting art school of the 20th century: the Bauhaus (1919-1933). This volume is an unpublished investigation that looks at the concrete reality of the female situation in the workshops and the pedagogy of the famous school. It supposes, in turn, closing the general tracking of the truth that occurred in that art and design center, where women played a role that, at times, was essential for the survival of the center itself, while they changed the history of design forever. Completing the vision of the female students who passed through there, what they did, what difficulties they encountered, what they contributed to the school is -among others- the objective of this book that focuses on female students, on the general contribution they made as a collective, both the most famous and the least known female figures: Otti Berger, Marianne Brandt, Alma Buscher, Friedl Dicker, Margit Téry-Buschmann, Ima Breusing, Anni Albers, Gertrud Arndt, Grit Kallin-Fischer, Dörte Helm, Lou Scheper -Berkenkamp, ??Margarete Heymann-Marks, Benita Otte, Ida Kerkovius, Ruth Hollós-Consemüller, Marguerite Friedlaender or Maria Rasch, among others. Female students, designers and artists are approached based on the workshops they attended. Structured in two parts, it chronologically collects that reality in the three locations that the Bauhaus occupied. Each of them is based on the corresponding curriculum, its presence in disciplines that would range from ceramics, carpentry, bookbinding, graphic printing, mural painting, graphic design, metal, fabric, printing, furniture, architecture or theater, among others.
