Laberint

Sönmez, Burhan

Boratin, a blues musician, wakes up one morning and doesn't know where he is. Apparently, he tried to commit suicide by jumping from the Bosphorus Bridge. He has a broken rib and has lost his memory; although the amnesia does not affect historical events or other details of the outside world, he does not know how to place them in time. In a pilgrimage that is both interior and exterior, Boratin will try to understand who he was before, who he is now, and what reasons could have led him to jump. Nobody seems to give too much importance to the lack of memories of him, but for Boratin both the city and himself have become a labyrinth whose corners are full of questions. From the protagonist's wanderings, from his search for meaning, essential questions arise: what makes us ourselves?; What does the past of the place we inhabit mean for our identity?
