La trastienda
Alberdi, Uxue
One was a seamstress; the other, an embroiderer. They opened their store in the late 1970s, tired of working at their parents' house. To the needles, machines and thread that until then had been their tools, they added political books and records. Marx and haberdashery. His father advised them to make room for the workshop and the warehouse: "The most important thing is not done in sight." Since then, they have sewn, embroidered and kept the books that they must return to the distributor. While recommending a book, they sew on a button; when they finish embroidering some txapelas, they sell records. Meanwhile, the bookstore is witness to floods, arrests and attacks, txikiteos, births and deaths. Uxue Alberdi has written the literary chronicle of a store that is also that of an entire era. Story narrated from the back room of memory.
