La Torre Eiffel

textos sobre la imagen

Barthes, Roland

The relationships between the writing of Roland Barthes and the universe of the image were always as constant as they were complex, which is why they simultaneously gave rise to books on general themes, conceived from a systematic perspective, and to shorter and more specific texts, around much more specific. With regard to the latter, Barthes replaced his usual methodological thoroughness with an approach that was so non-transferable and personal that they ended up becoming first-rate literary pieces, small masterpieces of the essay. But the most important thing is that, taken as a whole, these writings constitute by themselves a small abbreviated history of the image in all its manifestations. This volume presents a selection of unpublished texts in Spanish made from the complete works of its author, which range from a short book -The Eiffel Tower- to journalistic articles, from reviews that appeared in film magazines to analyzes prepared for specialized publications. in art or literature. The topics also cover multiple aspects of the issue, be it the relationship between painting, photography and writing; of the difference between cinematographic language and expression; of what separates communication from meaning, conceptualization and symbolization; or how advertising gestures slip into our lives.
