La segunda Lady Chatterley

John Thomas y Lady Jane

Lawrence, D. H.

Second of the three versions of Lady Chatterley's Lover that the author wrote and originally intended to be titled John Thomas and Lady Jane (names given by the characters to the male and female sexual organs), The Second Lady Chatterley excels in many respects. the canonical version and presents enough differences to be considered a separate novel: the ranger is no longer a former Army officer, but a miner, so the difference in social class with Lady Chatterley is greater, and nature plays a role organic in the plot. Also disappears, in this ambitious version that the author decided not to publish, part of his theorizing, for the benefit of a greater psychological richness of the characters. This second Lady Chatterley thus narrates "in another way" the famous impossible love story between a noblewoman and her subordinate in England after the First World War, as well as the chronicle of a world divided between exploiters and exploited under the ghost of the totalitarianisms.
