La piedra lunar

Collins, Wilkie

Distinguished Victorian writer, friend and collaborator of Dickens, Wilkie Collins achieved great fame for his novels, with which he contributed to the creation of the detective genre and achieved very high levels of quality in the warp of novel plots. In The Moonstone (novel full of intrigue and irony) Rachel Verinder receives on the day of her eighteenth birthday the Hindu sacred diamond known by this name, which her late uncle left her in his will and which he is supposed to have stolen in the India. That same night the valuable jewel disappears from the mansion. Around the mystery of the robbery a fascinating story is being concocted that is narrated by several of the characters, among which stand out the sardonic butler Gabriel Betteredge, and Miss Clack, a puritan spinster.
