Today witches are no longer burned at the stake, nor is anyone subjected to an inquisitorial process. But there is no doubt that a new puritanism, whose origin is found this time in the intellectual left, fully affects the West and causes considerable damage. We live in the era of the so-called "political correctness", which could be defined as a cultural practice whose objective is the destruction of personal reputation, censorship and even criminal sanction of those people or institutions that do not adhere to a certain identity ideology, challenge it or ignore it. An ideology that promotes the liberation of groups considered victims of the oppressive western order, which has its own standards of moral purity and establishes a clear distinction between good and evil. Its apostles, as was the case with the old witch-hunts, are ready to follow the accusing finger wherever it points to destroy the devil and free society from its evil influence. Like the courts of yesteryear, those who plead against their postulates are identified with evil, exposing themselves to the mobs and popular courts of the media and social networks. With this brave book, which is a celebration of freedom and heresy, Chilean intellectual Axel Kaiser addresses one of the main themes of our time: the use of emotions and offense to avoid a frank, democratic and free debate and to create a new tribalism incompatible with the individual freedom that emerged in the West.
