What if a new species of hyper-intelligent octopus held the key to the future of humanity? Rumors begin to spread about a dangerous and extraordinarily intelligent species of octopus that may have developed a language and culture of its own. Ha Nguyen, a marine biologist who has dedicated her life to researching the brain of cephalopods, will do her best to study them. DIANIMA, an international technology company, has become isolated in the remote Con Dao archipelago in Vietnam, where octopuses have been sighted. Dr. Nguyen travels to the islands to join the investigative team consisting of a battle-scarred security agent and the world's first android. Octopuses hold the key to unprecedented discoveries about animal intelligence. But the stakes are high: whoever manages to take advantage of these findings will achieve a great fortune. So, as Dr. Nguyen tries to communicate with the newly discovered species, a faction bigger than DIANIMA steps in to take over the octopuses.
