La juventud atracada

cómo un mundo de pensionistas cercena el futuro de nuestros hijos

Conde-Ruiz, José Ignacio
Conde Gasca, Carlotta

Spain is going to be one of the oldest countries in the world in 2050. The combination of low birth rates and high longevity has caused the elderly, thanks to their electoral weight, to determine the political agenda of our country and the destiny of public spending. Spain has stopped investing in policies that favor long-term growth such as education, R&D, access to housing or child poverty, and its educational system languishes alongside its neighboring countries. And, as if this were not enough, young people have to face three unprecedented global challenges to date: the aging of the population, climate change and the digital revolution. This book, which was born from the dialogue between the economist José Ignacio Conde-Ruiz and his daughter Carlotta, highlights the difficulties and invisibility to which these young people are subjected in Spain, victims of a continuous crisis that will soon reach its second decade. as well as the disastrous consequences that continuing to turn our backs on the new generations will have for the future of our country.
