La jaula de los onas
Gamerro, Carlos
Paris, 1889. The city is preparing for the great Universal Exhibition and opulent Argentina participates with a lavish pavilion to the French taste, unaware that nearby a Belgian adventurer plans to exhibit a group of Indians in a cage, like wild animals, onas captured in Tierra del Fuego, and present them as "Patagonian cannibals". One of them, the boy Kalapakte, manages to escape and, wandering in the shadow of the newly erected Eiffel Tower, meets the young anarchist Karl, who participated in its construction. Together they undertake a particular odyssey through Europe and the American lands, a return full of adventures and dangers that highlight the miseries and contradictions of a century that is ending and another that is just beginning.
