Brabant, Malcolm

A powerful memoir signed by one of the youngest survivors of Auschwitz, Tova Firedman, in which we follow her childhood during the Holocaust and how she survived a series of near-death experiences in a Jewish ghetto, a Nazi labor camp. and Auschwitz. Tova Friedman was one of the youngest people to leave Auschwitz. After surviving the liquidation of the Jewish ghetto in central Poland, where she lived as a small child, Tova was four years old when she and her parents were sent to a Nazi labor camp, and almost six when she and her mother were sent. forced onto a truck full of cattle and sent to Auschwitz II, also known as the Birkenau extermination camp, while her father was taken to Dachau. During six months of imprisonment in Birkenau, Tova witnessed atrocities that she will never forget. She is one of the few who entered a gas chamber and lived to tell the tale. In The Daughter of Auschwitz, Tova immortalizes what she saw, in order to keep the history of the Holocaust alive and prevent its memory from disappearing. She has used the memories that have shaped her life to honor the victims.
