Sophie Foster is a 12 year old girl. She has always been different from the rest of her, as she is able to hear the thoughts of her schoolmates and read their minds. She has always assumed that this terrible "gift" has a logical explanation, and that it is due to the accident in which she hit her head hard at the age of 5... But when a mysterious and attractive boy crosses her path, she faces to the most surprising of realities. She has never felt that she fit in with her family, in the same way that she has never felt part of this world... and in reality: she has never belonged to it!
