After Odran's latest failure, his plan to dominate Talamh (and Breen) has been put on hold for the time being. However, the confrontation has taken a heavy toll, and Breen experiences painful moments as he carries the wounded and fallen from a battlefield drenched in blood and ash. But the rest does not last long. The witches of Odran begin to haunt Breen in her dreams, where she sees them practicing black magic, sacrificing innocents, and planning utter destruction.
