La cazadora de osos
Ramqvist, Karolina
In the winter of 1541 a young noblewoman named Marguerite de la Rocque embarks with her tutor on one of the first French expeditions to the New World. On board the ship, however, a sexual scandal breaks out, as a result of which Marguerite -pregnant-, her maid and the sailor involved are abandoned on a desert island. To survive there they must face the elements and wild animals, and the lady will become a bear hunter... Several centuries later a writer discovers this story and investigates the legend surrounding the bear hunter. Married, with three children and in the middle of an emotional crisis, the more information she finds about the young woman of the sixteenth century, the more elusive and mysterious her figure becomes. Little by little, the labyrinthine research process that tries to separate myth and reality builds a unique bond between writer and hunter. And thus, their destiny separated by the centuries will be united by writing.
