La aguja incandescente
XXXIII Accésit Premio de Poesía Jaime Gil de Biedma
Martínez Muñoz, Amalia
The poems in The Incandescent Needle revolve around time, understood not as simple becoming, but as a story, as a construction. For the poet, time is the sum of moments that have found a hold in places, in images, in the objects in which they remain; It is the needle that weaves the thread that orders them and unites them, creating the illusion of continuity, which signifies them and leads them towards a destination; the incandescent needle whose spinning creates everything and destroys everything. "Stripped of everything / we are only / time / whose duration we ignore." Therefore, to think about time is to think about what constitutes us most intimately. Memory, identity, but also science, philosophy and art are, for the author, stories, times linked with which we build the world we inhabit and the illusion of eternity.
