L'art d'esdevenir humà
quatre estudis
Riemen, Rob
Our true identity is found in a series of universal values: the human capacity to live in truth, to do justice, to love, to create and appreciate beauty. What distinguishes some people from others and often divides them (sex, race, religion, origin, nationality, physical appearance) is secondary to these universal values. Riemen explores Socrates' two great questions ("How to live?" and "What is a just society?") from four axes: first, he vindicates memory to be able to recognize and confront the forces of evil. ; In a second moment he alerts us to stupidity and lies, which leave intelligence out of play; Next, he turns to Zola to invoke the figure of the intellectual and insist on the need for him to intervene with courage in the public sphere; and, finally, he brings us the voice of Mikhail Bulgakov's wife to place deep love at the center of the nobility of spirit, which should make us truly human. If human beings do not change substantially, history will continue to repeat itself. The art of being human is a plea for humanism and the hope that we will finally learn from our history.
