Kitaro, 10

Mizuki, Shigeru

Kitaro and company live in poverty due to the increase in the price of rice, and their only food consists of a roll at each meal. Our hero decides to look for work and ends up hired by the magnate Moriwaki as a collector for some very peculiar debtors: the yokais Mononoke and Suijin, who had contracted a debt worth a thousand yen in 1920. Kitaro embarks on a month-long trip that takes him to a town in the confines of the Musashino plain, a hundred kilometers west of Tokyo, overrun by a plague of mosquitoes.
