Juliette

No other figure in the history of Western literature, both because of the nature of his work and because of his irreducible attitude towards power, embodies the subversive force of literary creation like D.A.F. de Sade. "Juliette or The prosperity of vice" tells us the story of Juliette, a young woman who, left homeless after the death of her parents, decides to give herself to a life of pleasure and selfishness. Rewarded over and over again for this decision, the young woman will ascend to the highest spheres of a cruel society, full of violence and perversions, perfectly exemplifying the moral inversion of a Sadian universe in which vices are systematically rewarded and evil punished virtue.
