The seventh and last volume of the collection on Josep Tarradellas covers the period between 1980 and 1988. At this stage, in his octogenarian and in the last years of his life, the politician reaches the end of his term as president of the Government of Catalonia. A time when, for the first time since 1931, he finds himself without political responsibility but, nevertheless, he remains influential and willing to influence. In a retreat, therefore, active. Through the introductory text and the numerous documentation that accompanies it, in addition to photographs, the importance of Josep Tarradellas as the apex, also in these years, of Catalan and Spanish politics is revealed. As well as his political philosophy and conception of what the Generalitat that he had inherited should be, the relationship with the state governments and the role he aspired for Catalonia in Spain of the autonomies that were being formed. Throughout the volume, the relationship between President Tarradellas and his successor Jordi Pujol and Presidents Adolfo Suárez and Felipe González, as well as with the respective political parties and leaders, is revealed. Also his vision of episodes like the 23-F, of laws like the LOHPA, of institutions like the monarchy and, above all, the importance he gave to his political legacy through the creation of the Montserrat Tarradellas Archive and Macia.
