Heaven

The nameless narrator of this novel is a fourteen-year-old boy who is constantly teased for having his squint. Unable to stand up to the school's bullies, he unsuccessfully tries to lie low. The only person who understands what he is experiencing is a classmate, Kojima, also a victim of all kinds of humiliation at the hands of the rest. Giving each other comfort at the time in their lives when they need it most, the two young men grow closer than ever. But what is ultimately the nature of a friendship when the bond they share is fear?
