This essay aims to carry out a "quick immersion" in the notion of gender and in the studies that have been developed around it, as clearly and concisely as possible. This concept was created to refer to the social and cultural burden that is added to sex and that determines the norms of conduct for men and women. Thus, sex would be a physical trait that we cannot modify without radically altering our body, while gender would change according to times and cultures, which attribute different values ??to each of the sexes. Feminism has shown how women, in general, bear the brunt of this distinction, which contributes to the so-called male domination, which affects all areas of individual and collective life. However, for a few decades, gender studies have complicated this division between sex and gender. In addition, phenomena with such validity today as the claim of non-binaryism or gender transitions blur the boundaries between the feminine and the masculine, or between woman and man, and lead us to wonder if we are witnessing the end of gender and even of humanity as we know it.
