gay

Ramos, Alberto (1999- )

In 2019, Alberto Ramos self-published an innovative book called gay, with a unique design with all black pages and illustrations drawn in white that conquered hearts and set trends, conceived and designed by its author as a labor of love in honor of the rainbow. gay is a journey of self-discovery, healing, loving and respecting yourself. Of relationships that couldn't be, harassment, love and loss. It is a collection of poems about the audacity of being yourself when being yourself is synonymous with being worth less than the rest. At the same time, it is a hymn to the beauty of life and an ode to personal improvement, in line with its author's well-known determination not to be intimidated by life's blows, wherever they come from. gay was originally published when its author was 19 years old, commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall riots, and gave voice to a generation with its powerful protest message and its original design created by Alberto, which he defined as "a journey into the dark." It became the best-selling collection of poems in Spain and Mexico, taking the place from its eighteenth predecessor. His literary work collected in gay has managed to be a refuge for thousands of people who, like him, have not yet found the way home back to themselves, but that does not mean they stop looking for it.
