Franz i Marion
XVI Premi de Teatre Palanca i Roca
Moreno Pizarro, Marta
The play, based on the true story of Marion Pritchard, investigates how people's actions reverberate over time and the extent to which the wounds remain open because we refuse to look at them. As in a game of mirrors, this work is set in Amsterdam on two temporal planes. During World War II, Franz and Marion, former schoolmates, face an extreme situation. He is working on the registry where she will register a Jewish girl as her own, to save her from Nazi persecution. In a extreme situation, secrecy will become a matter of life and death. The other temporal plan brings us to the present, when another Franz and a young journalist, Eri, talk about family memory and face the dilemmas experienced by their ancestors. Palanca i Roca, Franz and Marion Theater Award is based on a true story to offer us a solid reflection on the responsibility of the actions and the repercussions that these have over time. Looking and seeing, recognizing, listening: acts of courage and generosity that are valued in this story. A story where the word triumphs and where it is shown that a better society is achieved through respect and the will to listen.
