American journalist Jake Barnes meets Brett Ashley, a nurse he met during World War I, in Paris. As a result of the consequences of his war wound, a truly unhealthy relationship has been created between the two. After a series of experiences in Paris, they decide to travel to Spain to fish and then to attend the San Fermin festival in Pamplona with several friends. Among them Michael, Brett's fiancé, and Cohn, with whom she has had an affair. To further complicate matters, they will be joined by the young bullfighter Pedro Romero. Limited to the role of a mere spectator, Barnes will witness the attraction that the woman he loves provokes in the group. Carlos Fernández del Castillo illustrates Hemingway's first great novel.
