Escritos sobre Miquel Barceló
Juncosa, Enrique
Associated with the emergence of the New Expressionisms in the eighties, Miquel Barceló has since been one of the Spanish artists with the most international projection. His work, ultimately singular, open to constant experimentation, and now far from the context of its beginnings, has since been exhibited in major museums around the world, from Montreal to Tokyo, from Mexico City to London, from Sâo Paulo to Paris, and from Buenos Aires to Venice, always doing so with great recognition, both from specialized critics and from the public. The poet and writer Enrique Juncosa, a friend of the artist's youth and a great connoisseur of his work, is, for his part, a prominent art curator with an international career as well. Both have often collaborated together, over a period of three decades, on exhibitions and books. Writings on Miquel Barceló includes a very comprehensive selection of the essays written by Juncosa on the artist, published from 1994 to the present, and now revised for its new edition. The essays talk about paintings, drawings, ceramics, illustrated books and large public projects, as well as specific thematic aspects, such as portraits and self-portraits, or the use of the color white. Juncosa, who has had the opportunity to visit all of the artist's studios and see a large number of his exhibitions throughout all these years, writes with great clarity, exploring the themes and the dominant iconography in Barceló's work, and facilitating the make it numerous keys for your interpretation and enjoyment.
