Els hereus

un retrat proper de la fractura racial a Sud-àfrica

Fairbanks, Eve

In 1994, the world's last racial segregationist regime fell to make way for a new system that was unprecedented and left its citizens liberated and stranded at the same time. This is the story of Dipuo, one of the activists whose fight brought down apartheid, but also of her daughter Malaika, who survives in a hostile and violent world in which she still does not feel part of it. And Christo, one of the last white South Africans recruited to fight for the survival of the old regime and whose drift is equal to that of a society that has lost its privileges and lives anchored between nostalgia and resentment. The heirs is an essential testimony of five decades of history and the new challenges of a country that continues in search of reconciliation.
