How can we come to determine that Qui no vulgui pols, que no vagi a l'era is the most popular saying in the Catalan language? The 100 most popular sayings were born from a survey carried out via the internet in March 2010, which was answered by 1,200 people from all over the linguistic field. As a result of the compilation and treatment of this stream of responses, the idea arises to gather this collection of the most popular proverbs, with their meaning, variants, curiosities, equivalents in other languages and literary or journalistic passages that illustrate their use and, above all, validity. Ten years later, despite the decline in the use of proverbs in our day-to-day life, this ranking continues to be valid and very current, in the absence of new studies that corroborate or refute this data.
