El último árbol del paraíso

Lira, Emma

Gabriel de Velasco has eyes the color of the ocean that dreams of sailing, but when at the age of eleven he is forced to enter the Jesuit College, he assumes that, in that new world, at the beginning of the 18th century, he no longer there is nothing left to discover. However, the study of herbs and spices catches him and through their intoxicating aromas he is able to get excited, to intuit another forbidden universe. A world of fierce, slanted-eyed natives of trade routes and clandestine ports. A world of plantations watered with blood, sultans slaves to European interests and pirates capable of appropriating beautiful women and rich cargo alike. A world in which the trees have more soul than the men who wish to destroy them. A world of flavors and passions that is forbidden to you. Or at least that's what he thinks.
