El Tercer Reich de los sueños
Beradt, Charlotte
During the period of consolidation of Nazism in Germany, between the years 1933-1939, the journalist Charlotte Beradt compiled several hundred dreams related by ordinary citizens that particularly attracted her attention due to the repetition of their contents. He sensed that the dream world of the inhabitants of the Third Reich was playing the role of the "seismograph" of its time by staging the advancement of racial laws, new social stigmas, strict surveillance, increasing invasions of privacy and general fear of individuals to be excluded from society. Beradt's dream archive remained unpublished for many years until she, encouraged by her colleagues, decided to order it by thematic chapters and accompany it with theoretical reflections and literary references. In addition to constituting an unprecedented period testimony, this material, which was published in German in 1966 and is now published for the first time in Spain, maintains its validity and alerts us to the degradation of life, to the danger -always lurking- of totalitarianism.
