El relojero de la guerra

El relojero de la guerra

el espía que puso en jaque a Churchill

Mollá Ayuso, Luis

Scapa Flow was the main English naval base during both world wars of the 20th century. Thanks to its strategic location on the Horcadas islands, in the north of Scotland, it served as a watchtower to control the exit attempts of the German naval units confined to their two main bases in the Baltic and the North Sea, whose aspirations were to find a way out into the Atlantic north of Great Britain to act as privateers in any part of the British Empire. In this way Scapa Flow and the Home Fleet it housed established themselves as the main objectives of the German Navy in both wars. In the First two submarines tried to penetrate the defended roadstead of the naval base, both being detected and sunk, and it is said that, within the migratory movements that occurred at the end of this war, a German spy may have infiltrated the environment from the base, where he would have begun to prepare the incursion of a German submarine at the beginning of the Second. The files of the Abwehr, the German CNI, were broken by the British after the Great War and all German field agents neutralized. All but one nicknamed Weasel, who was never located and may have led the attack by U-boat U-47 on the Scapa Flow roadstead that culminated in the sinking of the cruiser Royal Oak. This is the story of Weasel's movements and maneuvers to position himself in Scapa Flow, of the preparations and the incursion of U-47 into the naval base cove and of the help that its commander Günther Prien was able to receive from the elusive spy. In short, a novel that deals with the most interesting game of chess of those wars, the one held between the secret agent Weasel and Winston Churchill, cunning against intelligence.
