El poder y la caza de personas
frontera, seguridad y necropolítica
Mendiola Gonzalo, Ignacio
From this turn, hunting, with the entire web of concepts that runs through it, such as the trail, the hunt, or the piece, becomes the central axis of a story that will bring us closer to the way in which a regime of power falls on people. But not from anyone. The power that hunts hovers over those subjectivities that embody the existence of a risk and, around them, tracking them, the need to neutralize them, to capture them, to expel them will burst forth. Those other subjectivities, which will appear here mainly under the figures of the (suspected to be) terrorist and the migrant, can be hunted and, perhaps, should be hunted. The hunt for people names a mutation of the war driven by the hegemonic discourse of security, a form of war in constant movement that seeks to account for the threatening subject. This book delves into this warlike framework, in its conditions of possibility, in its deployment and in its constitutive violence. Power and the hunt for people tells us how we face other wars, other hunters and other prey today. There is no doubt that we are dealing with a unique theme that, from the very beginning, conceptualized in these terms, would have caused surprise, if not reluctance. Are we facing a power that hunts people?
