Morgan is a peculiar child. As a baby he appeared in a basket in front of Mrs. Culpepper's house with a note that read: "Take me beyond the mist. Find the three sisters' house and tell them I am the boy of fire." On his right shoulder is always Luminaria, a small llama that only he can see and with whom he can talk. One morning, the city appears covered by a dense fog that does not dissipate. With no trace of the sun, Luminaria slowly dims. Mrs. Culpepper remembers the note that Morgan brought, and the boy prepares to start a journey beyond the fog. Only if they find the house of the three sisters, will Luminaria be able to survive. What they do not imagine is who these three women really are.
