El malestar de las ciudades
Dioni López, Jorge
Why do people leave the cities? Because they kick her out. A multitude of factors, from housing prices to the effects of tourism, push people to leave concentrated urban spaces. Little by little, the cities are emptying and aging. The strange thing is that we don't notice it, because the constant flow of people makes us feel that everything is full, especially the historic centers, converted into theme parks. Rentism has replaced production. The city has become a Monopoly board that kicks out those who can't pay. Why bet on the middle class when speculation, tourism or unbridled consumption on Sundays are more profitable? Cities no longer yearn to build the future; they seek profitability.
