El laberinto del género
sexo, identidad y feminismo
Lora, Pablo de
In recent decades, a set of factors linked initially to the phenomenon of transsexuality and later to the rise of "queer" theories in the field of philosophy and social sciences, are seriously calling into question both the reality of sexual dimorphism (the fact that our sexual identity is part of biological reality) as well as the institutional and legally admitted forms of publicly appearing as "men" or "women". In this drift, the possibility of modifying the mention of sex in the Civil Registry through the mere declaration of the individual's will opens a scenario of consequences that are difficult to exaggerate and has put a relevant sector of activist and academic feminism on guard that directly alerts, "against the erasure of women". Impeccably documented and researched, this book examines the consequences of the demand for "gender self-identification" in areas such as parity in electoral lists, the treatment we must accord to trans people through the use of proper nouns and pronouns, motherhood of trans men and the pharmacological and surgical treatment of minors who suffer from gender incongruity.
