For the Florios the times of humiliation and misery are just a distant memory. Today, the entire city admires, honors and fears them. Ignacio, the heir, on the other hand, fears no one. He knows that the fate of the saga is in his hands and he wants to extend his power beyond Sicily, influence the politics of Rome and dominate the Mediterranean. Because of these aspirations, Ignacio renounced a love that would have disrupted his future, a love whose shadow will never leave him. His son Ignazziddu, on the other hand, is afraid. He receives the family legacy when he is barely twenty years old, but he is not willing to sacrifice himself for the family, to be a slave to his lineage. He tries to take the reins of the empire, but he faces a changing world, shaken by new and uncontrollable forces that will end up showing him that it is not enough just to have the blood of the Florio to prevail, to triumph. He needs something that his father and his grandfather had, but that he lacks. What has been his mistake? This father and son, so different, will have at their side two very different women: Giovanna, Ignazio's wife, hard and fragile as glass, full of passion and hungry for love, and Franca, Ignazziddu's wife, the most beautiful woman in Europe, whose golden existence will suffer the blows of a cruel fate. These two women will be the true representatives of the exalted and terrible, glorious and tragic history of the Sicilian lions.
