In her work as a psycho-oncologist, Charo Antequera has spent more than a decade accompanying adult cancer patients throughout the disease process. During that time, he has been able to observe how each patient has a unique way of understanding, living with, and dealing with the disease, which usually depends on the combination of a series of personal factors: their ability to control emotions, the way they deal with vicissitudes of life, self-esteem and family and social support. It is also a dynamic process, since the moment of diagnosis does not generate the same concerns or require the same answers as the beginning of treatment, or the chronification of the disease.
