El clan de los libreros magos
Nix, Garth
In a slightly alternate London in 1983, Susan Arkshaw is searching for her father, a man she has never met. Crime boss Frank Thringley might be able to help her, but Susan doesn't have time to ask Frank any questions before the prick of a silver pin turns him to dust under the gaze of the outrageously handsome Merlin. Merlin is a young left-handed bookseller (one of the fighters), who together with the right-handed booksellers (the intellectuals), are an extended family of magical beings who watch over the mythical and legendary Old World in its collision with the modern world, in addition to taking care of from a chain of several mysterious bookstores. The search for Susan's father begins with her mother's surnames possibly misremembered or misspelled, a reading room ticket, and a silver cigarette case engraved with something that could be a coat of arms. Merlin has a mission of his own, to find the Old World entity that used common criminals to kill his mother. As he and his sister, the right-handed bookseller Vivien, get in the way of a botched or undercover police investigation from years past, they find that this quest strangely overlaps with Susan's. Who or what was his father? Susan, Merlin and Vivien must find out, as the Old World breaks dangerously into the New.
