El cercle de Felantix
Barceló, Miquel (1939-2013)
The present volume collects the complete narrative work of the historian Miquel Barceló Perelló (Felanitx, 1939-2013), integrated by the collections of narratives El terme de Manacor (2007) and Trenc d'alba (2009), the text for a exhibition of the painter of the same name and from the village "Miquel Barceló seen by Miquel Barceló" (2010) and the autobiographical novel The winter of 1947, in the town, "unfortunately unfinished, although not incomplete", as Emili Manzano says in the prologue . Specialist in the society of al-Andalus and feudal conquests - on one occasion he defined himself as a "scholar of exterminations" -, in the works that constitute El cercle de Felanitx he rescued the memory of his Felanitx in a Mallorca in full postwar Accurate in his descriptions of the town and its inhabitants, determined when fixing the details of a scene, careful to reproduce both the speech and the silences of his time, Barceló built a work as short as it is vibrant throughout " a world of absorbing symbolic, historical and emotional complexity", in the words of Julià Guillamon.
