El bosque en silencio
Subietas, Mónica
Switzerland, 1942. In the midst of World War II, the Federal Government decides to close the border to refugees. Hermann Messmer helps a Jew to enter the country illegally, but soon after the man disappears into the thick of the forest. Seventy years later Max Müller, a famous painter, lies unconscious in his Zurich studio. He's been shot with a nail gun. A few months earlier Gottfried Messmer, Hermann's son, receives the legacy of his father: a cane and a sealed letter, deposited in a Swiss bank safe deposit box. The cane hides a valuable canvas, Waldinneres, and the letter, written by Hermann, urges Gottfried to find its rightful owner. The search will lead Gottfried to investigate the life of his father, whom he barely knew, and what he will find in the past will lead him to question his present and his future. How did the painting come into the hands of Hermann? Where is the owner of the canvas? What does Max Muller know?
