Dos mujeres con gato
escritos sobre las artes
Höch, Hannah

Pérez Fernández, Andrea
(ed.)
For the multifaceted Hannah Höch and Lu Märten, reflections on aesthetics, politics or sociology were often accompanied by a cat curled up on their laps and a bouquet of flowers on the table. Honesty, lyricism and a sense of humour characterise his sharp thinking and his writing, which is not shy about making visible issues which, a century later, are still highly topical. At the heart of their concerns are the situation of women in art and in society, precariousness, the adventure of engaging in creative work and the importance they both attach to artistic activity in the context of the struggle for more pleasant and fairer living conditions. The artist and the writer were friends (with cats), and this selection of documents shows their many points in common, as well as their decisive role in the intellectual and artistic fabric of the turbulent Berlin between the wars.
