Wyatt Earp and Bat Masterson appear in a large number of books and movies. Most books are basically fiction, including those that weren't published as such. They contain exaggerations, embellishments, rumors and outright falsehoods. The same happens with the attempts to bring it to the screen that begin in 1932, when Walter Huston plays a role based on Wyatt Earp in the movie "Law and Order". The challenge for a writer today is to sift through everything that has been published about them so far, determine the most reliable sources, and then compose an account of how their stories intersected in 1970s Dodge City, a city in which they became friends for life and where they coincided with that whole group of inimitable characters with whom they share a good part of their adventures. The figures of these legendary law enforcement officers in the history of the United States have become true icons and, over the years, legends have been attached to them like barnacles to a ship. This book aims to reflect the reality of what happened, who lived or passed through the city and become a reference to explain a part of history that has been excessively embellished and mired in frugal romanticism.
