Dentro del monstruo
un intento de comprender a los asesinos en serie
Ressler, Robert K.
Shachtman, Tom
Robert K. Ressler was a pioneer and authority on forensic psychology, a specialist in sexual homicide and serial killers - a term he coined - and an expert in criminal profiling, a technique he helped develop and refine throughout his lifetime. his sixteen years in the FBI's Behavioral Sciences Unit. Since his retirement from this body in 1990, he has advised police in various countries in the investigation of serial murders, and was often called upon as an expert witness in criminal and even civil cases. Inside the Monster reconstructs his participation in some of these cases, which took him from the United Kingdom to Japan, passing through South Africa, and also includes extensive and penetrating interviews with two of the best-known serial killers in the United States, John Wayne Gacy and Jeffrey Dahmer, "the Milwaukee butcher." Ressler, for whom "a profile is a logical conclusion reached after a good analysis of the evidence", responds to criticism from those who consider this technique a "new witchcraft" and analyzes the repercussions of its own popularity, even among some criminals who claim to have read his works. This book is an absolutely revealing first-hand document on violence today.
