Decir el mal
la destrucción del nosotros
Carrasco Conde, Ana
We take it for granted that human beings are selfish and prone to evil. Therefore, resigned, we affirm that evil is inevitable. Everything we read about him only reinforces our starting point. And we give up: we have no remedy, the evil of today will repeat itself tomorrow. We even become numb to the horror. But what if evil could be thought of otherwise? By resorting to selfishness, are we being blind to other possibilities to understand it? Do we do evil more out of lack of questioning what really makes it possible than because of its inherent character? Does it make sense to reduce evil to a question of individual will instead of addressing it from the shaping of the community? We have turned evil into a sensible distanced object of philosophical reflection without wanting to stop in the vicinity of an imperceptible and ordinary evil that is not such because it is vulgar, but because it is a common and current practice and, therefore, something shared by the members of a community. Ana Carrasco-Conde invites the reader to travel with her a path that shakes up the prejudices that have led us to understand evil from a framework that has conditioned our gaze. Through testimonies, this book calls into question the traditional explanations of evil and proposes to think about it without losing distance or sensitivity.
