Curial i Güelfa

The chivalric novel Curial and Güelfa is, without a doubt, one of the most fascinating in our literature. Close to Tirant lo Blanc in many ways, it combines a sense of adventure with amorous passion. The young Curial will rise socially at the same time as he falls in love with the noble Güelfa, who will accompany and encourage him on this path. Jealousy, envy and desire, but also loyalty, courage and hope, join hands in a narrative that takes us into the near and also distant Middle Ages, when real knights tried to imitate literary heroes from the pages of novels. Considered anonymous since its discovery in the 19th century, a recent investigation by professor Abel Soler attributes the authorship of the Curial to the Valencian noble Íñigo Dávalos, who lived during the 15th century. In this new edition we echo this hypothesis, with a new introduction and a revised text, which updates the prose of the author of this summit novel of our Golden Age.
