I Premio Literario Pinto e Maragota á Diversidade Sexual e de Xénero
Reimóndez, María
This exciting feminist science fiction novel was awarded the 1st Pinto and Maragota Prize for sexual and gender diversity organized by the City Council of Pontevedra and Xerais. The jury highlighted "her high literary quality and a new and revolutionary reflection on the construction of sex and gender, identities and sexual orientations, as well as a deep feminist and ecological look at the reflection on the future of the planet." Light inhabits the present in a world that is divided between the Corners and the Capitals, the latter only accessible through the so-called "fertility lottery." Winning it implies an unknown access to opulence. In a future marked by the cataclysm called the Great Disconnection, three beings created from plant matter, but in human form, are captured by a slave ship to reach an unknown continent. Here they will discover how their bodies are classified as women and commodified, sold, to maintain dominant power structures.
