Cartas de la Wehrmacht

la Segunda Guerra Mundial contada por los soldados

Moutier, Marie (ed.)

These letters from German soldiers, selected from those kept in the Deutsche Dienststelle in Berlin, offer us the direct testimony of those who fought on various fronts, from France to the Soviet Union, for nearly six years. Some testimonies that begin in September 1939 in Poland, calm and confident, who tell us in 1940 and 1941 what was nothing more than a triumphant walk through France, Czechoslovakia, Norway or Greece, which in 1942 and 1943 reflect all the horror of the combats in Stalingrad or in the deserts of North Africa, and ended, in 1944 and 1945, with the bitterness of defeat. The letters are offered here with their full text, accompanied by information about the personality and life of those who wrote them, because what mattered most was not gathering news about the war, but trying to understand those who made it, human beings who found themselves embarking on a company of death against other human beings.
