Cartas abiertas
Constaín, Juan Esteban
Is it possible to reinvent the past? To what extent can fiction change the course of events? Marcelino Quijano y Quadra, an enlightened clown and invincible gambler, a man of all times and none, is dedicated to fabricating fiction, a trade as mysterious as himself. He steals paper letters and snoops through them not only to trace the novel that lies in all other people's luck but also to rewrite it and save it, like a discreet, anonymous and beneficent god. His latest mission is so absurd and delusional that if it hadn't really happened it would be incredible: the signing of peace, in 1988, between the Kingdom of Belgium and the Department of Boyacá, at war, without anyone knowing, since 1867.
