Black song is the only collection of poems by Wislawa Szymborska that remained to be published in Spanish. There are books that somehow humanize their authors, that stop presenting them in a single flat light. Black song, in the case of Wis?awa Szymborska, perhaps it is one of those books. Not published during the lifetime of the Nobel Prize for Polish Literature -although several of her poems have appeared in different magazines or anthologies-, it was born as a gift in 1970 from her ex-husband, the poet Adam Wlodek, with whom she always maintained friendship.
