Brassens

poemas y canciones

Brassens, Georges
Urberuaga, Emilio (il.)

It is the centenary of Georges Brassens, the French singer-songwriter who portrayed the 20th century like no one else, and in Nórdica we celebrate it with a careful selection of his poems and songs in bilingual edition. Doctoral theses have been written on his work. His work has been translated into about twenty languages, including Esperanto. Musicians and artists from all over the world pay tribute to him constantly. One hundred and fifty public schools in France are named after him, in addition to hundreds of streets, squares, parks and concert halls. Brassens remains the poet of the everyday, the writer of perfect French, and the staunchest defender of human decency. There will always be those who look at the world today and miss the scathing comment of a writer who was more of a philosopher than an artist, and more of an artist than a philosopher.
