Adventures of three Russians and three Englishmen in southern Africa (Aventures de trois Russes et de trois Anglais dans lAfrique australe) is a novel by French writer Jules Verne, published serially on Magasin dEducation et de Récréation since November 20, 1871 until September 5, 1872, and published on August 29, 1872. The governments of England and Russia decide to repeat the experiment carried out by other nations consisting of measuring the meridian arc. They choose southern Africa for this, in the Kalahari desert area, and three astronomers from each of the two countries are sent for the mission.
